Privacy Policy
Last updated 7 November 2026
Dual Notes doesn’t collect any of your data. What you write and draw stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account. There are no Dual Notes servers or analytics, so we never see your documents or how you use the app.
Where your things are kept
| What | Where it’s kept | Who can read it |
|---|---|---|
| Your documents, notes, drawings, tasks and spaces | On your device. With iCloud sync on, also in the private part of your iCloud account, so your other devices can show them. | You, on devices signed in to your Apple Account |
| Weekly backups | In iCloud Drive › Dual Notes › Backups. On unless you turn off Back up every week in the app’s Settings › Backup Files. The last four are kept. | You |
| Pictures and PDFs you add | Copied into the document you add them to, and kept with it. | You |
| Images you save to Photos | Your photo library, only when you choose Save Image. | You |
What Dual Notes doesn’t do
- It has no analytics or tracking of any kind.
- It contains no third-party code that collects data.
- It doesn’t sell or share anything about you, because it has nothing about you to share.
- It doesn’t use your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
iCloud
Sync and backups use Apple’s iCloud. Your documents go to the private database of your own iCloud account, which only devices signed in to that account can read. We can’t read it, and we can’t see who uses the app. Apple stores this data under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
You can turn sync and the weekly backup off in the app’s Settings › Backup Files. With both off, nothing you make leaves your device.
What Dual Notes asks to use
- Adding to Photos. Asked the first time you save an image to your photo library. This permission lets Dual Notes add images, not read your library.
- Choosing pictures. When you add a picture, iOS shows its own picker, and Dual Notes receives only the pictures you choose.
- The clipboard. Read only when you paste.
Crash reports
If you turn on Share With App Developers in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, Apple may send us crash reports and anonymous usage figures for Dual Notes. Apple collects these, not Dual Notes, and they don’t identify you. We use them only to fix crashes.
Deleting your data
- Delete a document in Dual Notes, then empty the Trash.
- Deleting the app removes everything it kept on that device.
- To delete what’s in iCloud, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud › Manage Account Storage › Dual Notes.
- Backups are ordinary files: delete them in the Files app, in iCloud Drive › Dual Notes › Backups.
Children
Dual Notes doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of Dual Notes changes any of this, for example by adding analytics, this page will be updated, with a new date at the top, before that version is released.
